  • Girls: dresses shorter than the gown look best. Longer dresses or dress pants for girls do not look as good but are permitted.
  • Everyone: no tennis shoes or flip flops. Shoes must be worn at all times while at school for commencement.
  • Graduates may wear the souvenir tassels with the graduation year or an unadorned tassel.
  • You may NOT decorate your caps.

The Ceremony

  • The Graduation Ceremony will be Friday, June 1 at  7:00 PM in the AHS Competition Gym.
  • Graduates must arrive at 5:30 PM for line up and will remain in the practice gym until the ceremony begins. The main gym doors will open at 6:00 PM for public seating. No one may enter before then.
  • Tickets are required to attend the graduation ceremony. Information about tickets will be sent home with graduates after Spring Break.
  • Other than the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian, graduates who speak during the ceremony will be randomly selected from a list of volunteers.
  • If you want a part in the graduation ceremony, you must sign in the office between April 23-April 27, 2018. Speaking parts will be chosen at random from those who sign up.
  • Tryouts for a musical performance will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the auditorium at 7:30 AM. A decision will be made at that time by judges selected by administration.

A high school graduation is a ceremony, not a party. Although you have accomplished much and deserve to celebrate, the graduation ceremony is not the place to do it. This ceremony is for all graduates. Please do not detract from the importance of the ceremony for all involved and wait to celebrate with your family and friends after graduation. Administration reserves the right to withhold diplomas from graduates who do not follow all rules of the graduation ceremony.
