The Holidays came early for some well-deserving teachers and students in Anna ISD. The Anna Education Foundation awarded more than $30,000 worth of grants to 20 teachers across the district at the end of November. The program is called ‘Grants for Great Ideas’.
In a heartening collaboration that spanned across generations and classrooms, Slayter Creek Middle School's Makerspace classes teamed up with Bryant and Rosamond-Sherley kindergarten classes for a unique and imaginative project just two months ago. The project revolved around the letter "M," a pivotal point of learning for the kindergarteners, who embarked on a journey of creativity and expression.
Anna ISD is now recognized as a Best Buddies school district with an active student group. Best Buddies programs empower the special abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy, and communication skills, and feel valued by society.
The Anna Student Advisory Council has been making waves by spearheading initiatives that have profoundly impacted Anna High School and its community. Comprising a diverse group of students, this council has shown how the youth can drive positive change in their educational environment.
A historic event unfolded in the heart of Anna, Texas, as Anna ISD celebrated the groundbreaking of its fifth elementary school, Lorenzo Dow Hendricks Elementary. This monumental occasion marked a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities for the city's youngest residents. Anticipation is building as this state-of-the-art educational facility will open its doors to PreK through 5th-grade students for the 2025-2026 school year.
